AUSCHWITZ
A place what gets under your skin
What a place - profoundly moving - I have recently read The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Auschwitz Lullaby: A Novel and currently reading Everything Is F*cked: A book about Hope (in the beginning talking also about Auschwitz, so I have a theme in the recent books I've read). Also read about the Angel Of Death after reading the Auschwitz Lullaby - Josef Mengele.
Visiting this place was touching, seeing the blocks, the place, the railroads, imagining it, reading about it - it was overwhelming. I was stunned, when standing at the place where over 1,000,000 million people were sent to their death in that particular camp Auschwitz–Birkenau just because of their pure existence, being "the wrong kind" of a person - among them even babies and small children, who just did not have the luck of being born as an Aryan.
